Prof. Sang-Jin Han held a press conference on June 15, 2017, at the Korean Press Center, and presented main results of the recent survey on the 1980s generation(¡®386 generation¡¯). It is a common idea that the 386 generation as a whole, which led the democratization movement in the 1980s, is a strongly politicized group. Breaking this stereotype view, however, this survey shows that there is a group active in helping the weak in everyday life rather than in political activity within the 386 generation. Based on this result, Prof. Han Sang-jin insisted that there are two different groups within the 80s generation, the politicized 80s generation and the 80s generation in life-world and that we need to pay more attention to the non-political, practical and life-centered potential of the latter. Following the press conference, Prof. Sang-Jin Han also had a briefing meeting with the 386 generations who responded to the survey. After briefing the main survey results, Prof. Sang-Jin Han talked about the future cooperation schedule with them, emphasizing that the 386 generation is not merely the subject matter but the important partner of research. |
